As some of you know I spun a rod in my SR a month or so ago, and while I had plans to rebuild it as a monster, funds have gotten really tight and I think I am just going to get a used replacement motor. I don't need an entire swap, I just need a good clean block/head but I don't know who would have one. Are there any local shops that might?

 

You're not going to find a clean longblock by itself. When a friend ran into this same problem, I just told him to get a complete motorset and sell of the unused parts. That made the longblock pretty cheap. He/we wound up getting it from Taka at JDMmarket for a good price. If you go this route, I might just buy up some of the parts!

 

Yeah I would just recommend getting a complete motorset. You can maybe find a longblock here and there, I did but it took like 4 months and it still needs to be rebuilt.

 

we have one. needs a new headgasket, but its a good motor.

we actually had two, and sold one of them yesturday.
