my speedo is wrong

my speedo is wrong

it says i'm going faster than i really am...and it gets progessively worse as i accel...its about a 10mph avg over...how do i go about fixing this...

(durdan i'm currently googling this so any other help would be great)

Is it always that off, or is it close at low speeds? I run a 4.36geared rear end with 235/40/17 rear tires on a 9" rim and at a true 60mph, my speedo shows 68. It could be someone has changed the rear end out for a different ratio.

its close at low speeds but at about 60 it read 67 lol...but i have an auto and its stock and i'm on 15s with a slighty shorter tire...195/55 instead off 195/65

thats not enough to alter the signal. could be a few things off.

sensor could be going out, but its unlikely.
the sensor gear could be wearing off. all the ecu see is a pulse, not rotation or direction. could have a chipped tooth or something.

speedo could be going bad.

i say throw in another cluster from a friends car and recheck. what are you basing your speed off of to know what your real speed is?
