Hi, new to the site. I own an 89 nissan 240sx fastback. about 6 months ago i had to replace the engine and the new one came with an intake pipe. other than that its bone stock. im starting the body work on it, and i want to put some effort in under the hood as well. that being said, everything i try to look up online confuses me, whats the difference in a s13, s14, silvia, and something about sr20? i guess im trying to figure out what i have and what i should upgrade under the hood. im also interested in any good shops locally, and maybe a garage, i have an intermitten problem with it not wanting to start once a month or so, gets spark, can smell gas but all it will do is spin, no combustion. then poof... next day runs beautifull.

again thanks for your time, im new here and look foward to seeing what this site is all about.

ok well an sr20 is the motor that comes i think all 240's in japan (correct if im rong may only be s15's) but yea there strong stock turbo motors that make 205hp stock and for the s13 s14 ect an s13 is the type of 240 you have (89-94) and the s14 is the body style after it (95-98 ) and silvia is a 240 in japan just a few things difer like its rhd and the front end and a few other things but if you want to put some power in you car you can get a sr20det swap done at XAT racing for 4300 for the basic swap.. just ask if you have any other q's

ok so i have a s13 i know its 12 valves and from some pictures and info on a search on here its a single cam. i have been looking on ebay and noticed some things like high flow converters and fuel pressure regulators, are these things worth getting or are they smaller parts of equipment that i dont have? also can i add a turbo to my stock engine?

the SR is the motor from japan, its stock turbo, and the s13, 14 and silvia are different years of the 240 i believe

 

no your motor is garbage i dont mean to ba on ur motor but single cam 240's wont hold any power and they dont make a turbo kit for that motor ur best bet is to call ur xat or go on there website and look at some stuff.. ill keep lookin at th thread so just ask questions as desired oh and here XAT Racing - WE ARE DRIVEN.
