Default blown head gasket?

ok, '95 maxima se, vq30de, 5sp blah blah blah........

driving down the road yesterday in 5th when my max has a huge loss of power. i immediately think its a clutch problem, thats not the case. the damn thing wont rev past 2k, clutch mashed to the floor or in any gear at all.

first thing i checked were codes. then i lifted the hood and checked vaccum lines. thats when i smelled exhaust fumes. checked the oil...looks dirty as hell.

somebody please tell me i need a oil change

Does not sound like a blown HG. Check to see if there's any fluid mixing, if not, you can 80% rule out the probability of a blown HG. You stated it lost power in 5th, how about now? How about 1st, 2nd, etc. Bring it by, we can see what might be the problem.

Blown HG results in overheating sometimes loss of heat and Milky Oil. Check your oil if its milky white then you have a Blown head gasket.

you usually dont see a loss of power like that with a Blown head gasket unless your loosing assloads of compession and in that case id say cracked head.
What codes were thrown if any ? Is it missing at all ? When was teh last time you git gas ? how low on fuel were you in teh tank... Did you drive through any puddles or anything ?

^ agree, whenever someone comes on Zcar saying "I can't rev past XXXX RPM" it usually turns out to be a MAF problem
