I tried the PDF file service manual with one of my bikes, but thought it to be a pain unless you have a laptop to carry outside with you. so, thats way I like to good old fashion service manual book type.. Sit it down next to me and go to work and have the wife turn the pages so I dont get greese on them.. J/K....

thats cool.,. I usually just print out the pages I need and if they get crappy I just throw them away...lol
well good luck on the carpet thing. The dash is kind of easy to remove... but not as fast as Matt is saying (again unless he knows some tricks) I would realistically say it would take about 30 to 45 mins to remove it. but when I took my carpet out and replaced it, I didn't take out the dash I just cut the top area of the carpet under the dash. Its hard to get a razor knife of some sort up there and in hindsight I would have taken the dash out. Just my 2 cents though. well good luck
Just me

Isn't OEM carpet prepunched behind the dash?

You should just be able to make a slit in the carpet under the radio, grab a side at the firewall and pull.
