Default Small problem..How to fix?! Light smoke comes from shifter area..

Hello, Who's there please?

Just wondering what exactly this is..When I drive for a little while in 5th gear..Or keep the car around 2500 - 3000 rpm..A light smoke almost like steam will come up from the shifter area..Like the tranny is overheating but it doesnt act up in any way..I dont know if I need to flush the fluid and replace it or if there is just some oil on top of the tranny case that smokes when its heated up..Just need some clarification and suggestions..Thanks for any help.

What kind of smoke are we talking about? is it white or black? You can always check the gear oil level in your transmission, but i doubt that the smoke is ocming from your transmission.

You could have a coolant leak from one of your heater core hoses. that might send some steam up in that direction. is your car overheating at all?

Do you have an sr or a ka-t? cuz then you have turbo oil feed and return lines that could be leaking oil. Is your motor going through a significant amount of oil?

You gotta be leaking something on the back of the engine. It could be dripping on the exhaust. Drive on the highway for a little bit then park with the car still on and check the rear of the engine and under the car.
