How does the stock shift knob fit on the shifter? I just got a stock knob to replace the rice the previous owner had in it and it just kinda sits on the shifter and spins....do i need the boot? b/c I dont have a boot yet.... im confused.

Boot wont matter. The guy who had it before you prolly like ^^^ said stripped the threading on the shifter trying to smash it on. Best bet is to get another aftermarket one thats not all ricey.

Pull the shift knob off and look at the threads on the shift. Do they look worn down or stripped?

I had the same problem and bought a leather Momo shift knob that is held in place with 3 allen screws. Works like a charm.
