It's a 4th gen maxima either 95 or 96 gxe, and has like 166,000 miles or so on it. I haven't drove it in like 3-4 months, all sudden i got bored and decided to change the oil and rotate the tires. Well that's all good, but every time i pull out the little oil testing thing, there's like black crap on the back of the stick, looks like burnt or cabonized (or harden) oil. I've been changing it with castrol synbend oil 5w-30, and a over 75k oil filter from fram.

i think it's just built of old oil, but the engine temperature gauge is always at Hot, or a lil down from it. i guess it's overheating for some odd reason, I'm not sure why it's overheating. Does it need more oil? the stick shows that it's like half full. any ideas?
