Greddy Intercooler is the suck
well leaving from work today, i am just crusing down the road when all of a sudden i hear like metal or something scratching so i am like of shit let me pull over. I get to a well lighted area and pop the hood, and what do i see my Intercooler under the car
. Hows this happen you ask? well the bracket you bolt to the car totaly ripped away with a piece of the plate from the IC it self. Now how the hell could that have happen, is this thing that poorly made WTF. has this happed to anyone elses greddy core?
hopefully my mechanic or someone can weld this back together. casue i dam sure don't have the money right now have to buy a new Core.
i would take pics but my cam is dead. basically right were you see the bracket welded to the IC is were it basically ripped away like opening a can of tuna fish. I can basically see the fins. Dam i sure hope this can be fixed.

So the bracket was still on the car in the right spot and the core ripped out? IC's don't normally do that all by themselves... Maybe you got a defective one - as long as you didn't bash it on something, Greddy might be able to help you. I've had pretty good luck with them in the past as far as customer service.
My johnnyracecar.com intercooler did the same thing, except i was going 70mph when it decided to part with the bracket and come off the silicone couplers and wedge itself underneath my car. There were so many holes in it i had to buy a new one. ALuminum DOES NOT GIVE. Vibrations and constant torqueing on the intercooler from the engine turning over will put a hell of a lot of stress on the intercooler unless you have ample play in your piping. I fyou cant grab hold of your hot and cold pipes and move them back and forth WITHOUT stressing the intercooler then things are TOO TIGHT and you should install a couple of hump hoses, the silicone connectors with a bulge in them to allow engine movement.
Johnnyracecar has since fixed its problem by intalling STEEL threaded sleeves in its intercoolers and supply STEEL brackets that BOLT to the intercoold and frame. This allows even more play so when the intercooler sees movement IT can move ITSELF.
yeah i got it fixed at driven Concepts/ Glenn dam he does some awsome work. yeah i am gonna buy some hump hose in the next week or so. They told me the same thing. but its fixed now and the weld looks alot stronger then the orginal.
Thanks DC & glenn for the speedy and quality work.

Thanks for stopping by!
I think the problem he had with the IC was the fact that it was not properly installed. The two lower mounting tabs were not utilitized and the core was solely hanging by the top tab and also the piping once they were connected.
