cheap, reliable, SR. Pick 2.

Parts availability is not an issue. Neither is finding the info to do the swap yourself. If you do a lot of reading up on the subject and spend a few bucks on a quality motor and preventative maintenance parts, you should have little to no problems. It's the people who buy $1500 motors and drop them in without changing the oil that have problems.

synthetic oil for SRDET? I thought those were bad for the seals on the turbo.

I actually have more problems with my SR than my KA.
Id say if you're low on the budget, I'd go with KA. If it blows up, spend $400 for a KA motor, unlike the SR for $1k.

If you cant afford it, dont fuckin do it.

If you do it, keep the KA in teh garage and always have the backup option.

turbos are ghey.
go NA.

KA with cams, manifold, and other simple bolt-ons can see into the 200s.

I heard there's a few KAs running close to 300 with no turbo. But i suppose they are for track only
