Default ka24det boosting stock motor?

I have a friend who is in the processes of turboing his ka. He thinks with a stock bottom end with the exception of low compression pistons, that in a daily driving satiation, he can run 18 psi and on the track he can run 24 psi. I told him that thats not possible but he thinks that it is, so i just wanted to get some other opinions on it.

its not all about psi- more so about HP

With proper tuning and fuel support, stock KA's can make alot of power.

It will blow up. Do you know how much 18psi is, and why would he want to daily drive that? Sounds like a bunch of bullshit over here.

There have been people who have done it, but you have to consider all factors. Without proper tuning, you will blow it up. In order to figure it out, you need to know what turbo he is going to run, and intercooler efficiency would be a big factor.

Does he plan on daily driving on race gas, or pump gas? Why spend the money on turbo, manifold, exhaust, injectors, wastegate, intercooler, piping, tune, downpipe, blow off valve, and not spend a little money on making sure your old worn out block is on decent condition.

But of course for any of this to matter, you/him would have to be serious, and im sure that is not the case.

depends what turbo too. 18 psi would be different from t28 to sc61 haha.

i run 19psi daily. its in the tuning. with forged pistons, he'll be okay as long as it was built right and tuned right. 24psi is pushing it on the stock rods though, depends what power levels he'll be at.

the head will lift up from block without a metal head gasket and head studs at that much cylinder pressure.

I dont no much about the kit but that the turbo doesnt have a brand name it just says turbo on it.....

That turbo sounds like the ones that fall apart and kill the engine.
