Default ca20e starting problem

My friend who currents owns an s12 can not get it started, we tried everything. At first we thought it was just the battery then we thought it was the alternator cause we have been thru 3 batteries,so we took the alternator to advanced auto parts to test it and they said it was fine, but then we were looking around to find the obvious and we saw that an injecter was leaking, but the engine still gets fuel.So I really dont know now.

You need to post more information than that.

Like he said above, you need air coming into the engine, fuel being mixed with the air, and spark to ignite it. That is...if your engine is even cranking over.

A car will run with a bad alternator, for a while...as long as the battery is charged.

You need to do some diagnostics, and figure some stuff out.

Does the starter work?
Do you hear it turn, and turn the engine over and over, or just hear it spinning really fast/restriction free, or does it click, or what.

If the starter does anything but turn normally, check your batteries, alternator, and definately starter/ starting circuit.

If the car turns over normally but never wants to "catch" then you need to figure out what he mentioned above.

Make sure you are getting fuel. If you have a leaky injector, and it is spraying, that is good enough for me to say you have fuel pressure. You might need to pull the fuel rail to make sure the injectors are firing. Pull your spark plugs and check them out. They should not be saturated with anything, and if they are, then they are fouled. Either by oil, or gasoline(wich means you are flooding the enging).

The spark plugs dont need to be fouled to be flooding the engine though, so beware. You also want to make sure the engine is getting spark. Putting your tongue to the spark plug wire while someone cranks the car is an easy way to check, but it should also spark in the valve cover if you dont want to get electricuted.

You also need to make sure the engine is firing at the appropriet time, otherwise you will have no luck.

Let us know all the circumstances, and hopefully you will get it started.
