the greddy valves also require tweaking with the adjustment screw on top so it isnt open at idle and holds boost without leaking. if its not hooked up, it will leak under boost (since there is no pressure in the line that would connect to it to help hold the diaphragm down). if it is hooked up and is still getting surge, back off the adjustment so it opens more (it was too tight), but make sure its not opening at idle.

technically on an engine using a MAFs setup, it should be recirculated. most stock turbo cars run on MAFs, and their bov's (my dsm one i have does it, so will the stock sr20 sidemount bov) are open at idle. with aftermarket ones, they are usually not open at idle with proper adjustment, and using an s-afc's deceleration function can help with keeping the idle from stalling out after clutching in, but many times, the richness between shifts will still happen, since the ECU is already dumping in X amount of fuel for the Y amount of air it metered, but the BOV lets some of that air escape causing a quick rich condition and a nice fireball or backfire or something. nothing to really worry about though if you can live with it. my car runs 50 times better recirculated, esp partial throttle runs passing traffic and such, and i believe i picked up maybe 1 or 2 mpg
