how can you tell the difference between......

Default how can you tell the difference between......

a regular sr20 and a bluebird sr20det? im lookin to buy a 91 sentra ser w/ a blue bird sr20det. is there anything on the block i should look for. i just wanna make sure its a sr20det and not a turboed sr20. so help me out and telll me what i should be lookin for on the motor to tell them apart

uhhmm..i havnt seen that black square box thing on my cousins B14 SE-R
top mount IC?

other than that...it looks identical to me

the car that has the swap has converted it to a front mount intercooler. i was just kinda wondering if it was stamped sr20det on the block or something. kinda like hondas how the have codes stamped.

i dont know shit about fwd. but, as far as i know there is nothing special about blue bird other than its fwd

not..i said there is a lil black box next to the valve cover..but im not sure about that..

and i said that maybe a top mount would be really really really easy to spot

All SR20 blocks are stamped, but they only say "SR20". The little black box is a crankcase oil vapor separator. I'm not sure if the NA SR20's have them, but your friend's B14 may be completely different as it should have the low-port head. The pic you posted is a high-port.

now i was told that the block was stamped sr20det. is this true? that would make it easy then

couldnt you just tell by valve cover? red = det siver = de

ill look at my g20 tonight or tomarrow see if it says de on the block..

they dont.
they all say "sr20" whether its a DE or DET, rwd or fwd.
no way to tell from the outside at all really.
