Default aem ems fuel problems....

Aem is saying that im maxing out my msd 72lb injectors at 16psi!? The thing is going lean after 6500 rpms. I have an sr20de+t on a gt30r...This makes no sense, these injectors are supposed to be good for about 500whp right? Theres no way im making anything near that at 16psi of boost. When i was on my jwt ecu i was making 430whp at 20psi of boost on the exact same setup. My fuel pressure should be the same as to what the jwt 72lb/z32maf program required which is about 44psi or so and im running an aeromotive fpr and walbro 255 fuel pump. Anyone have any idea as to what is going on?

Thanx...

Norlandt

What do you mean by "AEM is saying"? Do you mean that on your log your injector duty is through the roof? We are running AEM on COS13's car as well with only 52lbs injectors. A much larger turbo and I have enough fuel for 17lbs right now.

Norlandt, my friend was having the same problems with his EVO. We took the car to CFT only to realize that is AEM logs for his IDC was 174% and he has 1000cc injectors. I noticed on the dyno at WOT that the fuel pressure was dropping from 65psi to 45psi doing WOT pulls. This was causing the car to go extremely lean up top. You are more then likely experiencing the same thing he is. He has since installed an inline walbro 255 pump and the problem seems to have gone away. I will find out more information and the next time you are at the brothers house, I will call him up and see what his situation is right now.

i have a walbro pump that i been using for a while....can it be going bad? Also, i bought this AE FPR about 8 months ago brand new.....maybe some kind of exhaust leak that is causing the uego to read lean when it is not? But i fixed the exhaust leak i had.....arrrgggg

It's very rare for a walbro to go out. There are plenty of people that say they have and blamed the pump, but have actually had other issues and replaced a pump for no reason. An exhaust leak could very well give you bad readings. Are you running a AEM wideband, or just stock, or another wideband?

It is not that rare for it to go out. Going lean at high rpms deffinitely sounds like a fuel pump issue. Boostin13b does have a point though, it could just be your wideband.

exhaust leaks cause wideband reading issues at low rpm not high rpm. hookup a fuel pressure guage. let us know

Ok, so today we were making passes and it wasn't going lean....wtf. Also, im having trouble starting the car.....ill crank it for a while until it decides to turn on...Martin from xat told me that walbro pumps have this problem. Im starting to think maybe the pump has something to do with it. I hear it turn on loud and clear though.....the fpr is reading about 30psi at idle though....hmmmmm
