Default 97 240sx trouble codes 42, 93

I just installed a 97 ka24de in a 89 240sx. It starts and runs ok but the tach doesn't work. I checked the codes with the check engine light and I am getting some codes that are not on the list 42 and 93. I have clearded the codes several times and I am getting codes: 21,42,81,93. I have the diagnostic port but it is not hooked up. there are 4 wires 2 black wires, a red wire that has been located, and a orange green that can't be found. Please help???

I hooked up an aftermarket tach and nothing. What sensor sends the tach signal to the computer. Cmon no one knows anything about obd2 ka24de engine codes or wiring. I know someone out there has done this swap before. HELP! S.O.S

The cluster gets it's tach signal directly from the ECU. The ECU gets its "tach signal" from the cam angle sensor that is built into the distributer. If the ECU didn't see the CAS, then the engine wouldn't run.

What wiring have you done so far? It sounds like you're running the 97 wiring harness and 97 computer, which is anything but plug and play.

I got the tach to work by running the wire from the gauge plug directly to the distributor. I am going to to unwrap the harness and trace back the wires to figure out what went wrong. It's just red yellow wire to red yellow but it doesn't work. I still cannot find the trouble codes 42 and 93. Does anyone know how to hook up the diagnostic port: 2 black wires (grounds??) red which I located and an orange whith a green stripe which cannot be found. does the wires run through any other circuit?
