Exclamation Gap Setting on NA S13 KA24DE???

Can someone tell me the factory gap setting on the sparkplugs for a S13 KA are? My friends S13 is bggin down so we are changing the Ignition wires and spark plugs today...

.044". Here's a tip. Look under the distributer cap if you're having ignition problems. After *only* 110k miles, mine looked absolutely horrible

Well, thanx, but my friend is to stubborn to change it. He thinks that changing the gap setting sounds "sketchy" and they should be fine right out of the box. They are at like .031!

Unless you get them from Nissan, they are almost never right for the KA.

I forgot to add, I was also getting sparking inside the wire connection at the distributer. Looking into the terminals on the dist, there were burn marks on a few of them, indicating arcing.
