i was doing something in the rain last night and on the drive home i notice it wasnt shifting. i've heard of the tranny heating up and it getting stuck in 2nd. is this temporary? ahh. the great auto transmission...

I figured out how to fix it.......












Get a 5spd swap! HAHAHAHAHA.....Oh, wait........

 

hmm...does the "shifter" move? or is it occuring internally in the transmission?
clutch>torque convertor

Sounds like limp home mode to me. Try starting out in first, and shifting when you need too...sometimes the shift valves get stuck and that will undo it (notorious with the GM 41Te if you're a tranny guru), the KA auto tranny's suck ass. If that doesn't work get somebody to test the pressures in it to see if there's a problem with low pressure (that will cause it to stay in 2nd aka Limp mode).

 

i agree with whoever else said it..if its an s13 5 speed is the only way to go if your auto tranny is broke

im experiencing this right now so i know what im talking about

 

i think its just from heating up. everything was driving fine this morning. by the way even when i put it in first it wouldnt change it just always in second. but its cool now. now i know i cant go for as long as i did last night.

 

if your auto is dead I have a s13 auto that worked great before I pulled it for my manual swap $40 worst case you can have a good spare for when it happens.

i have some now thanks to tak (poor car)...but they are for my swap


and if you want you can at least hold the auto just in case
