Default Tranny Swap 300z/SR20

I am swapping to a 300zx tranny instead of using a KA tranny every 6 months. Anyone here have this done? Have any input for me about it?

I am also switching to a MAP tuned rom-tuned ecu.

stinkyz replaced the s13 trans he was using in his 87z with a z32 trans. something about input shafts, 5th gear and a bellhousing. email him or something. had to use parts from both trans to get it to work.

I just used the z31 turbo trans. I suspect you will need a modified bellhousing to do it right.

doing away with the maf gonna shoot for 500hp with a usb loaded rom-tune on MAP sensor with 2 fuel maps. I will keep a laptop hooked to the ecu just for gauges.

as for the tranny swap I have everything accept a custom drive shaft. i am wondering if i can customize my alluminum drive shaft or my 180sx drive shaft. Or do I use 300z? I also am worried about where the shifter will end up. I have read that it gets moved about an inch back with the swap. I sure would like to see one that is already done....

A buddy of mine has a 300zx transmission in his '91 Coupe right now.Mark fabricated a bell-housing, brackets and tranny mounts to use on the chassis. Basically you use the yolk from the Z32 Driveshaft and the Back of the S13 Driveshaft bolted up to the LSD. Mark also makes the custom 1 piece driveshaft for the Z32 Tranny to be used with a 240.
The shifter sits about a little under 2 inches further back and maybe an inch to the left. The location is homely.
