Exclamation Automatic to Stick

I just bought a 1993 s13 that already has the Twin cam KA24de in it, but its automatic. I would like to do a tranny swap and just wondering what parts I need? I need the tranny, ecu, pedal, and I dont know what else. If their is anyone that does these swaps also I would like to know how much you would charge me if you supply the parts. Looking to do swap within the next two weeks, so pm or post but let me know .

dont need the ecu.

Need brake pedal
clutch pedal, master cylinder(new), hardline, slave cylinder(new), tranny, clutch kit(q/ pilot bearing/throw out bearing), flywheel(resurface), flywheel bolts(automatic bolts wont fit), 5 speed drive shaft, and last but definately not least...m/t backing plate(wich is a pain in the ass to get, i would start searching the internet right now)

As far as the swap goes...

remove driveshaft, remove engine to bellhousing bolts, remove lower tranny front plate, remove torque converter bolts(use 27mm socket on crank pulley to rotate), remove tranny wires and shift linkage, remove tranny cross member, remove tranny.

Remove auto pilot bushing(sits inside crank, rent a tool for this), insert m/t pilot bushing, insert backing plate, install flywheel(use threadlocker), install clutch, install throw out bearing on tranny input shaft(make sure it works right), unbolt exhaust, jack front of engine up, then try yo slide tranny on. Good luck with this part, its a pain in the ass.

Bolt up tranny, bolt up driveshaft, bolt up crossmember.

Drill hole for master cylinder, install clutch pedal, brake pedal, master cylinder, hardline, slave cylinder, bleed clutch system.

Find wire under passenger side fuse box, thick white and thick black i believe, splice.

Start car, drive.

pics avail on request.

Its really not that hard, a little timeconsuming though. It took me a while, because i got parts when i needed them, not before i started...wich left alot of down time. Make sure you source all the parts, especiall engine to tranny bolts, flywheel bolts, backing plate, and tranny fork with the 2 clips. These are often overlooked, and cause major delays. Installing the pedal is nothing at all, you could do that yourself right now with a drill if you wanted.

Removing the auto tranny isnt hard either, hardest part is removing the engine to tranny bolts on top. Then you just turn the crank with 27mm socket, till you get all the torque converter bolts, and push that bitch off.

flywheel and clutch are no brainers, and the biggest problem you are going to have is getting the new tranny on, thats why i suggest jacking up the front of the engine, and disconnecting hte exhaust at the cat.

And seriously, if that is the biggest problem, then its no sweat, cause 99.99% of this swap is the same labor as changing a clutch. Couple more bolts, but thats it. If you got 1 person to help you, then it should be no problem. I did it alone, and aligning the tranny was the only thing i wish i had a hand with, but it got done.

as far as removing the old pilot bushing, rent a tool for this from a parts store, it will save you alot of headaches. its like $100, and you get refunded when you return it.

wiring is simple if you want simple.

reverse lights + speedo = easy

speedsensor is plug and play, and reverse lights, splice 2 wires, and for the parking switch, just plice 2 wires under the fuse box.

Line up your parts.
Get flywheel resurfaced.
Dont cheap out on the clutch.
Make sure you have the clips for the tranny!
Make sure you have M/T flywheel bolts
Make sure you have M/T tranny/engine bolts

Then go for it, im sure it can be done in a day if you worked at it, and had all the tools.

I have a half assed write up i might get around to finishing here

bill called jarco yesterday and they said a front mr2 clip would run him about 400 dollars, give them a call, they might be able to hook you up on the parts. plus we have that 3s on it's way down, so whatever we buy from that other than a clip is 10% off and shipping should be less too
