i'd check the maf, might need a cleaning, it also sounds a lot like an IACV to me from my experiences, check both, tell us what it is when you find it, i keep hearing about more and more of these symptoms. also make sure your idle air screw is adjusted properly. Is idle when its warm normal? if so, its not the Idle air screw...probably one of the others.

it could be the MAF. Is ur car turbo, cause if it is then when u let off coming to a stop sign it would bog cause it has a MAF sensor.

S13 KAs have a line going to the intake air box. Unplug it & see if that helps. Regardless, spray 1/2 can of F.I. carb cleaner in there.

typically with vacuum leaks, the idle goes low-even stalls sometimes. so it wouldn't cause the idle to raise to 1k rpms...check what i said in my first post then tell us if that helps at all.
