i've been torn between different brands of exhast manifolds for my ka. I wanted to know if im going with a cast iron manifold does it really matter if i go for the more expensive rev hard manifold or would one of the ebay cast iron manifold suit just fine. im not shootin for buku power cuz this would be my first turbo build. thanx for any opinions.

Whats up man, it's Tyler, met you at the Nissan meet the other night. What "e-bay cast iron manifold" are you talking about? I dunno if I've seen a no-name cast manifold for the KA yet. Despite what others say, I've been running the SSAutoChrome for ~2yrs now with no quality issues. Sure it may not build boost as quick as a $600 manifold but for $250 you get stainless (which looks AWSOME when heated) and it has been trouble free and building boost fine on my setup.

I think you should buy a used name brand cast iron manifold. You could get SSautochrome one, but there have been alot of mixed reviews as far as the durability of their product. Although, TNathe seems to of had no issues for a long time. The no name cast iron manifold should like it would be strong because it is cast iron, and should work well since they pretty much copy the Rev Hard design.

Another thing that concerns me is taht the ebay cast iron manifold claims that it can be used in a top mount set up or a bottom. im just worried as to if that sounds like a quality design.

Seeing as our ports and bolt pattern are reversible, top or bottom mount is doable with the same manifold, provided the turbo clears the hood and steering shaft. On a RevHard copy (what that is), it clears both. There's a small gap between the turbo and master cylinder that needs addressing (shielding), and the ports need to be enlarged and smoothed out. Other than that.. cast iron can't go wrong. Well.. it spits out bolts like children at a Watermelon Festival.. but other than that...
