You have a VQ. There are no known issues with the harnesses or the ecu's in the 4th gen maximas. However, they have been known to have their coil packs go out for no appearent reason. Try hitting up www.maxima.org/forums or www.vqpower.com for some more insight. Being that the coil packs or easy to take off you can easily trouble shoot them by swapping them to different cylinders. If the no sprk issue follows the coil pack then you know what it is.
I highly suggest you find out how to read the trouble codes on the maxima as they are as bout as easy to access as you can find on any car.<--Check above links. Or you can do what i did and buy a code reader for 75 bucks and never have to go through the hassle of trying read the blinking lights and such. Plus you can use this on any import as well. Just one use will pay for itself.

89-91 maximas came with the vg30e and the 92-94's came with the dual cam. 95+ is a VQ. Those harnesses are known to rot and ground out around the fire wall and other tight areas. the coil packs (as tampamax said) are also known to go out. common problems...i'll check TSB's on that if you want me to tomorrow.
Is there reference voltage at the injector plug?

While you're looking could you double check on the rotting harness issues. I know the older maximas had intermitent issuses, but have never heard of a 4th gen or later having "any" harness issues. The closest thing that comes to mind for the VQ series maximas is the 5.5 gens had a problem with the maf blowing for no appearent reason. Being that i didn't have one i didn't bother to stay abreast of what the cause was.

the harness rotted on my old 3rd gen...I think the TSB said it went from 89-95 with the rotting/deteriorating harness problems, (i could be mistaken on the production years) and yea the maf did have a tendency to blow, but i can't remember the cause was...i know this girls 5th gen i worked on had a lot of moisture in the sensor...don't know if that was the common cause or if she took it swimming?!

swimming, i wouldn't put it past a chick

And yeah, i'm pretty darn sure that it was the 89-94's that had the harness issue. The 4th gen is basically a completely reengineered car. It got an entirely new harness design along with the drivetrain. I could be wrong because i'm no VG expert, but i believe the VG had/has a heatsoak problem which contributed dramatically to the harness problems.
