gasket porting
The gasket kit came in this weekend for my sr20. I'm wondering if any one has any tips for porting my intake and exhaust manifold gaskets, so they match my head.

Anyway, the gasket shouldn't be smaller than the ports. It's generally the other way around, and when an item is ported, it's ported to the gasket. No use, and actually bad, to port more than the gasket. What brand gaskets did you get? Do you usually have this issue with gaskets being too small?

They are factory gaskets and no this is the first of I'm sure many sr20s we will be building. I have not checked to see if it's larger then the gaskets because the head and gaskets are in 2 different places. I'm really just trying to be prepared because the last thing I need is another snag.

for a small fee a machining shop that has a CNC machine can port each runner equally. This way they all flow the same CFM, best results are had with this method. But if you're going to gasket port, just line up the holes of the gasket with the studs, use a sharpie to outline the inside of the gasket and port until that line is nearly gone, then polish. im sure theres like a step by step website if you're still not sure about it...just google it.
