Default s14 REAR BRAKES

I was wondering if anybody else wiht an s14 has had any problem wiht their rear brakes sticking. Whats happeneing is my brakes are heating up and goin out. After this happens the rear calipers are very hot and the front calipers are cold. I know its not the sliders oin the brackets and it doesnt look liike the hoses are collapsing. Any body have any ideas? Rea the calipers juts crappy calipers? Whats the deal?

thanx,
Bryan

this is a problem with all 240sx's, as they share the same crappy calipers. most of the time, the rear pads are dragging, building up heat. Not sure what the fix is for that. Sometimes compressing the calipers and putting on fresh pads does it. Sometimes its more complicated. Either way, you're not alone.

taking the pads off and trying to screw in the piston some might help, when you do take note of the dust o-ring boot around the piston itself. sometimes taht will get tucked in and cause a problem or it might be slightly torn and getting crap in there causing the piston to stick.

I actually just took apart the rear brakes on an S13 last night. The grease on the sliding pins had all but hardened making it very hard to move. I de- and re-greased them last night, and things seem to move around more freely. I also WD-40'd the caliper boot.

i did brake work a couple months ago and one caliper the piston was way too extended so i changed it and pads. It helped for a little bit. I know the boots are straight and they didnt look torn. I know my slider on the brackets are fine, i have already had that problem. Ill try the ebrake cable next then. If that doesnt help new calipers it is or brembo or stop-tech rear kit wiht 300zx fronts. Thanx a lot guys any opther help is welcome too.

yea it sounds like the piston is sticking....just pop it out and like u said de- and re-lube it and get new pads and see if it works then....this can also happen if you dont compress the piston when changing the pads.....not saying you did that or anything, but shit can happend.....use a C-clamp witht the old pad on the piston side and tighten the C-clamp till the old pad is flush with the calaper and then put the new pads on and get everything bolted up and pump the breaks with the car off till they get really stiff.....then drive it around for a bit and see how it works.......

dont mean to flame but if u compress your caliper piston like that i wouldnt doubt that its the reason u have had problem. the pistons on those turn in, you dont push them in. But the de and re lube is an option thanx
