Curious why 'must' you have the Apexi gasket? There are plenty quality metal gasket manufacturers out there that could make one for you. It might even be cheaper. If you're interested in at least speaking to some of them let me know and i'll dig up their info for you.
Yes you are correct there are many subsitutions when it comes to metal head gaskets and yes they are cheaper. Many people are going with the cometic and it works just fine. However after a few discussions with Scott who has never given me bad advise and a little research on my own it appears that the Apexi is by far the strongest and will work best for my application. I could settle for something less and get this project done sooner seeing as the head gasket is what is holding me up but I'm not willing to give in just yet. I'm looking for major performance with major reliability.

Well, i would think the guys that make the gaskets for the majority of the winners in the NHRA top fuel and funny car classes may know a thing or 2 about strength and reliability. Go with what you will, but saying you can't move forward because of a head gasket....meh.....

Good luck

Tampax have you ever built a SR? and did you even take a moment to comprehend what I have written? The fact is that I can move forward with a product that is not as good which I have stated. My decision to hold up and wait for a particular part which is superior to others shows that I'm not impatient and willing to pay a little more for the best. Those who know me understand that I take racing seriously because I do it frequently. I also enjoy the fact that this is a reliable daily driver that is going faster than any other stock SR in the area and some that are built. Funny that I didn't see you in line next to me at the last track day to show me how far fetched my wisdom really is. Do some research on head gaskets for these motors and let me know what you come up with. BTW do you run a NHRA top fuel or funny car?

Brett

Bro, you totally took what i said the wrong way. I in no way said you, or John, don't know what you are talking about. The thought never crossed my mind. All i was saying is that the kind of power holding ability your looking for in a hg might be something some of these manufacturers are familiar with. Case and point....supplying a good majority of gaskets for some powerful setups in some big time racing.

Believe me, i used to be all about racing, and loved it just as much as you do now. Unfortunately my daily/weekend racer was totaled along with my back about a year ago, hence the reason you would not have had the chance to line up with me. It certainly would have made for some fun runs. You rapeing me off the line and me reeling you in on the second half of the track. Not taking anything away from your setup or anything. Just tossing ideas out there. Chances are some people may know a few people that could help you, that's all.

Just curious....how much do those particular hg run?

Tampax sorry about taking your post the wrong way. These parts are in the $200.00+ range. If you find one you can expect to pay for them. Matt sent me a pm and may be able to get his hands on one. This would be nice seeing as I will be picking up some extra parts from him. Thanks Matt.
