Default Nissan VVL > Honda VTEC!!?....WHA!!?

Hey guys, I took my NX to the dyno a few weeks ago. It was time to put the VVL to the test. There was a dyno day down here, and lots of people showed up, of course many of them were Honda guys, so I decided to be sneaky that first run, I disconnected the VVL solenoids...busted out with 118whp 128tq. No one thought much of it, I'm sure some of them laughed.

Second run, I plugged it back in, 183whp 146tq. THAT'S when people started to look worried .

A week later I went to dyno again, and tune it a bit, messed around with the timing and fuel pressure, and I got another 10hp. My final numbers are 193whp, 155tq.

Here's the dyno sheet:

And if anyone wants to see a video of the car on the dyno, here it is:

My mods:

SR20VE engine
SR16VE cams
JWT ecu
JWT cam gears
JWT pop charger
Fidanza flywheel
Hotshot header
3" exhaust

Those are some awesome numbers from an NA SR at the wheels. What's with the enormous hump in the TQ curve? I know, VVL, but that's one hell of a drop off at 5500rpm.

Nice work! What's the compression ratio on that thing?

The TQ curve is magnified, so it looks more intense. It only goes from 100-160, while the hp graph goes from 50-200.

Here's the graph from the 183whp dyno, which has them both scaled rhe same.

that hump in the torque curve upsets my delicate sensibilities.

Are you using the JWT ecu to trigger the two cams changeover, or are you doing it with an MSD rpm activated switch??

That's wierd that there's such a huge hump in the middle and then it tapers off.

Something tells me an intake manifold would help those cars tremendously.

Are you running the 6 speed ?

.2 L more displacement than a Type-R engine, and still about 10 horsepower shy.
Sounds just like one!!!!!!!!!
