I am having some trouble with my transmission and haven't had a chance to tear it down yet. It is an auto. in an '84 300zx turbo (Can.). It will go into all gears (Forward & Reverse), both manually and automatically, and has the proper amount/type of fluid in it. The problem is that it has lost all torque converting ability. The converter is relatively brand new (only ~15k miles), but i would still like to get it tested. I was just curious if anyone knew a shop in the Riverview area at which I could have this done. If you know a shop in Tampa, I travel there daily also. I'm welcome to all sorts of imput.

 

Damn, I just threw away an 84 turbo auto tranny. Wish I would have known, I had everything and worked great. Would have given it to you. You can try calling "Just Z" by the name of Andy 813-873-8004. He has been working on Z's forever and has all types of parts. Worth a shot.

 

Or just throw away your rust bucket and solve all of ur problems.

Also another solution and better gain for you is to swap the auto to a 5 speed.

 

Ok, the 5-speed conversion would only make the car slower. Turbo lag is a bitch! And lets not forget about brake-boosting. Check out my time slip; my car is stock. :-p (other than the exhaust falling off!)

 

It wouldn't make it slower.. and turbo lag? Give me a break. The stock turbo is a T3. I think I would know a little about Z31's and older Datsun's. My z31 turbo is auto as well so I know the standpoint.
