Default Weird but true- DSM ECU running KA-T 240

We've got tired of BTMs, AFCs, AEMs, SR20-swaps, etc, and came up with Poor Boys' Standalone for those not blessed with turbo ECU.

Setup :
Stock KA24DE
50trim homemade turbo kit
Stock 1G 450s, MAF, ECU.

The car made 111whp all motor, and 270whp @ 11psi afterwards. Drivability is a little dumb - I think due to the MAF sitting so close to the turbo, howerer it does love WOT. I'm very pleased how well the knock/timing works even with noisy KA24. Took some wire tracing, but all the factory gauges in 240 are functional, and operated by DSM ECU. As for DSM ECU - it seems to be pretty happy to work with most Nissan sensors.

MAFT, injectors and race gas in near future.

P.S. Sorry about the quality of the pictures.

We were planning on using DSM knock sensor. I was very sceptical about the Nissan knock sensor - it didn't work worth crap with J&S. Well, we couldn't find a good spot for a DSM sensor to thread in, so we tried Nissan one - and it worked great with DSM logic.

I'll think about a write up.
He either adapted the Mits optical wheel into the Nissan housing, put a bunch of metal tape on the Nissan wheel or adapted the whole Mits CAS, them Nissan trigger setups are unique.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'll do a little write up on how it was all done - but honestly there is not much to write. All I used was printouts of ECUs diagrams.

CAS was tricky (good call Scott). Funny enough we HAD the car running with a 6' rubber hose turning the DSM CAS. Hint : Nissan CAS output is completely different, but when you pop it open - there is an easter egg in there
Update: got MAFT installed and just dynoed @ 15 psi, the car made 312whp, 345tq, need injectors BAD!

Something doesn't smell right.

Stock KA
boosted 11psi for 270whp
went to 15psi for 312whp

Don't those numbers seems off? A cunt hair over 1 bar and the "stock" engine is putting down 200% more than without the turbo? I'm no turbo guru, but that seems way out of the realm of possabilities.

Oh, and running off a different manufacturers ecu is kinda cool.

heh, it's all about spark and fuel. Most modern ECUs can control both, they just have to know when to spit and spark. Let the ECU know what's going on and you're 90% of the way there.

the motor might have put 111rwhp down naturally aspirated due to running on the dsm ecu made for a turbo, it was probably pig rich and just shittily running.

the numbers are actually about normal or a tad on the low side for KA-T numbers at those pressures. but for the most part normal. i've seen 50 trim t3/to4e setups do ~270whp on as low as 10psi and as high as 13-14psi, and at 15 psi ive seen them do anywhere from 300whp to 350whp.

its definately an interesting setup.

The things us KA-T folk do to make it in this world I wouldn't dare say I had another manufacturer's parts in my car though

I'm sure that's a smaller turbo, thus, it was out of it's efficiency range during that 15psi run. 270 at 11psi isn't bad, especially if it's spooling quickly (BB?).

That was the Sound Performance PhatKA-T using AEM EMS, I believe it topped at 417hp. Here's a link to his latest run: http://www.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=84407

PS - Scott, I'm gonna have to re-add saying in my inventory!
