pilot bearing question
if the brass pilot bearing is installed can you see it in plain view or do you have to take something apart. if it is in there then how would i go about getting it out.?

you should be able to see it if you're looking for it. It's sunk in there a little bit, too. Some brave people use a chisel, other's borrow a bushing puller from Autozone, the rest of us just ignore them.

You can do it, like Epstein said, autozone has a pilot bearing pulling attatchment for a slide hammer.
Its like this: If its accessable, then why not change it? A rear main seal, timing belt, pilot bushing, etc. If you get the chance - do it.

it look like a new rear main cause it was the only thing clean. so i guess the odds are it doesnt have it.
it just doesnt look like itll fit. it seems like if i press it in then the input shaft might not fit.
