I need opinions on what to do to an Exhaust Manifold Heatshield. I believe its made of Aluminum.

Polish?
Jet Coated?
Any other options?

Its for my S14 SR STOCK EXHAUST MANIFOLD, If that matters. Color scheme under my hood is CANDY PURPLE and BLACK CHROME.

My SIG LINK has some pics to give you an idea of the color scheme. I am not done yet. I know there is lots of work still needs to be done like hiding those ugly red wires. I am not in the market to upgrade my manifold at this time.

I bought a new exhaust manifold heatshield and like to get it jet coated or polished so it will hide my ugly exhaust manifold that is totally rusted out and all. THANKS TO TAKA FOR THIS & FOR MEETING ME LAST NIGHT AFTER A LONG ASS FLIGHT. YOUR ROCK BRO!

I also rather not get my exhaust manifold jet coated as one of my studs is about to break off. So i am just hoping to dress it up a bit to hide the ugliness for cheap for time being.

hmm two colors i would reccomend are candy purple and black chrome!

my brother's SR manifold was done at ProCoat inside and out. It's a 2000*F coating and feels pretty thick. I doubt it will come off. It's in a dark grey, with even a slight bit of metallic look to it.

They recommend CERAMIC COATING which can withstant 1300-2400 degree temps depending on which one I use?

What's a safe bet? Should i just go with 1300 one? or go to 1500?

Car has stock turbo setup obviously. What you guys suggest?

Black ceramic coated.. it holds up to 2,300 degrees. I pick mine up on monday from A-1 Ceramic Coat. Btw 280zx highly modified turbo engine. Powdercoating cannot withstand that ammount of heat. I am sure it would be fine for a while but would soon fall off, change colors etc.

 

Definately. Being that he got the manifold from Charles, he (or john) could give you the info...looks like john's is the exact same. it feels pretty thick and i doubt it will come off. im not sure if its considered a thermal or ceramic coating...IIRC, ceramic is usually thinner but has similar good qualities on keeping the heat in control. thermal sounds more like a "lining" to me. i dunno lol.

i'd go for the higher rated one. it shouldnt cost too much more for the extra protection and peace of mind. charles told me it was $75 to do his i think.

i think powdercoating *MIGHT* work if it was based over the top of a coat of thermal/ceramic type coating but im not sure because i think the powdercoating process wont allow for both? not sure. i've seen plenty of compressor housings powdercoated (friend has his just cleared for ease of cleaning), but never seen it on a turbine or manifold.

and i am getting my manifold and o2 turndown pipe done at procoat more than likely, in that gray color, or black.
