Default Possible Nissan 240

With the rising gas prices, my mounting insurance cost, and my strong desire to cut costs of my daily driver so I can buy a Stang for my racecar, I'm wanting to get rid of the dirty bird for a ncie 4 cylinder. I'm partial to Nissans, and RWD, so I figured I'd get a 240 for a daily driver.

Generally, I'm assumming they're good cars, anything special I should know, problems or good points? What were the good years for them, as far as being nice and dependable, whats the mileage at when they usually start going into the shitter, and about whats a good price to haggle down to? I see them in all sorts, colors, shapes, and price tags, mileages, just wanting to sort it all out. Also remember that this is my DD car, the only mods I might do to it are ones to increase my fuel economy, under no circumstances will I be souping this up in the least bit for racing.

I know this is going to be hard for people to take into account when help me out, not being sarcastic or anything about that. I'm not concerned about their speed - long as they've got enough power for me to downshift a gear and get out of a bad situation or pass some granny - and I'm also not worried about their handling, because they're uber drift cars if all else fails, yo

I actually think they look decent, as far as imports go, and I really like the fact that they're RWD, I don't think I'll ever own a FWD car again. I'm most concerned about their reliability and whatnot as asked in the original post. Know of another (hopefully) reliable model thats RWD and damn good on gas (and not some late model 80s Corolla or the like)? Please, by all means let me know and I'll explore that, too. But it just seems to me that Nissan is a good name.

Well, you didn't mention whether you were looking for an S13 or S14. If you go S13 and want reliability, I'd hold out for a dual cam model (91-93). The car is plenty fast for daily driving. That's why I bought mine. I'd try to keep the mileage in the low 100k's or better. At 10+ years old, the bushings have mostly taken a dump. The car is also pretty sensitive to out of balance/round wheels, and bad alignment. Used parts are cheap. Fuel economy isn't that great. My WRX gets the same milage. ~21mpg in mixed cycle, 24+ on the highway. Price? Anything under 2000 for a clean S13 is good. 95 S14's seem to get down into the $4000 range with relatively high mileage. It varies wildly based on condition and whether or not the seller is a Nissan person.

...and you have to put up with sarcastic wankers that won't answer posts seriously!! hahaha

Wow, my firebird gets the same gas mileage, just about. So, I'm guessing that the 240 isn't all I thought it to be? Ehh, if they weren't godawful ugly, I might buy a Stanza or the like...but I really thought they'd get better fuel mileage than that - thats just horrible.
And Nismo, the irony, aren't you selling that one to buy a 5.0?
