Yup. As sexy as the long primary style headers look, they just don't hold up well and really aren't needed at the power levels most are making.
There's a guy in Missouri running a homemade manifold on his Ford 2.3 Turbo, its weld el primarys (45 degree bends out of each port) dumping into a 3" round pipe. In the middle of the pipe is the turbine flange. He's gone low 10's in a full weight mustang convertible. Are there better looking headers out there? Yes, would he pick up power switching to one? Maybe. Is it worth the expense or difficulty in building? No.
