5 Lug Conversion/300ZX Brake Upgrade
Attempt #2...
Started on the rear 5 lug conversion having to pull the hubs off of the donor car and swapping them with mine. At first I thought it was a very simple process of unbolting the wheel, the brake components and smacking the hub out. Well, from never have done it before, I was about 1 hour shy of thinking that. I looked at this damn thing for an a hour before I decided to drop the suspension to try and figure out why the hub wouldnt come out after unbolting it completely from the spindle. After I unbolted the lowering arms(?) I managed to smack the back of the bearing/hub with a hammer and it popped right out. Damn thing was rusted on there probably from being a car from up north. I couldnt pry the damn thing apart or break it loose from the front anyway I tried. Wish I would of known I was going to have to do this, mainly because working in 3pm 100% heat sucks, then working in 4pm rain sucks even more
. Got the left side done, tommorrow the right...

Now its offical...MY first personal experience with doing a Nissan 240sx 5 lug conversion has been a pita. I started on the last hub but of course, somehow managed to run into complications. The damn rear axle(?)wouldnt come out of the hub/bearing so I had to drop the rear a-arm(?) as a whole and take the entire a-arm/axle/hub/spindle and see if I could press it out.
Tried 15 tons of psi and no dice...15 TONS and that bitch didnt even budge. So again after about 5 hours of cutting, breaking, bending, smacking and most importantly drilling, I decided to step up the heat with 20 tons of pure US Metric PSI and wala, the damn thing popped out...half way
A smack of the hammer and its broke free.
Sorry thing is...that was on the donor car, now onto my car

Oh yeah...when doing a 5 lug swap, there's like an 85% chance that at least one of your rear axles is gonna be as permanently affixed to your hubs as possible....mine took like two hours, 3 people, a gear puller, a pry bar, and an 8lb sledge, and in the end the threads on the axle got fucked up. If that nut ever comes off again, it isn't going to go back on. The week of PB Blaster soaking did not do much good unfortunately.
I got it all finished, after I put the 20 ton smack down on the axle. Luckily for me the axle that got wacked was the donor car axle and not mine. My axle came out on my car within seconds.
