egr vavle delete
Ok I have turned the intraweb upside down looking for an article or how to on deleting my egr valve I know it involves putting a nickle in the fitting and tightening it down to seal the hole but what about removing the egr itself. Also wtf is that thing next to it they are connected by a vacume line.

Hmm I've read a few post in different forums of people taking off their egr valve? To my understanding it only deals with emissions, which florida doesnt' have any more, is there some sorta benefit? I know once you remove it you have to change your ecu settings when it's done.
pic is of a 95 manifold which is obd-1, which is pretty identical to s13 manifolds, minus the scv butterfly assembly (i have yet to look at one of those before).
if you want to delete the WHOLE EGR this is where it goes back in to the manifold. you'll notice the casting of the manifold with the 4 hex allen plugs in the "egr channel" and if you stick your finger in the open manifold near there you can even find the ports where the exhaust gas is injected back into the intake runners.
i have mine totally removed and it wasnt really worth it at all. i noticed some smoothing out when i took it off initially but nothing worth al lthe time and effort i put into it.
if you dont have time to pull your manifold (dont think its easy like a honda
), you can do the cruch nickel plug method on the exhaust manifold and then you can either do a nickel method on the intake side (by taking the recirc pipe off the back of the head), and i did it using some gasket material and a nickel and some RTV silicon. i had to fully remove it because i theorized that when i turbocharged my car, it would not hold during boost situations and would create a leak somehow. on my spare motor i will also have it welded shut.
you can also weld the recirc pipe if you can fit a welder in there...not a great idea...
or you can crimp and bend a few times...like a toothpaste tube if you understand what im getting at. alot of people have done that and it might leak ever so slightly but not enough to realize.
ps - you'll throw codes.

Some on the board knows how to do it. It was done in my s13 but it does involve the engine being removed on teh count that the plate needs to be welded. and If Im not mistaken sits on teh back side of the engine. (correct me If Im wrong)
why go through all of that ? if your gonna gain a small amount ?
