just took it off and went for a drive...everything is still operational...bogs like crazy and slow as shit but no change from before at least

that is the AIV
air injection valve
it's part of the emissions and what not , it puts air into the exhaust in order to reduce the NOx content I believe. You don't need it, it doesn't really hurt performance, but it makes the engine bay all clustered.
