Default Car temp acting funny

The dummy gauge on my car is possessed. Stock stuff the temp was always 1/2 way. With Koyo radiator and e-fans, driving around used to be at 1/2 way, and an 1/8" down. Now the dummy gauge is about 1/4" from the bottom, just within the "operating temp" brackets. If I rev the car or boost, the gauge flys to 1/2 way, then drops back down once I get off the gas.
Is my car running that cool suddenly, or is my water temp sensor shot?

Mine goes to 1/2 on warm-up then goes to 1/4 during morning. Afternoon, it stays at 1/2 in the afternoon.

Don't have rapid fluctuation on/off boost like you though. Hook up an OBDII scanner and check if the sensor is giving a wild fluctuation in temps. Remember Mav's water temp sensor situation & he lost 10hp on his NA?

Jesse

PS - why don't we have quality temp guages in our cars yet ?

Just run autometer or something, they are better than stock ones in the cluster. If you got money, you can get decent ones like defi, greddy etc.

Don't spend big $ on a water/oil temp guages - stepping motors are overkill.
