Default Turbo

Well this past weekend my turbo pretty much fried like a piece of chicken. Plenty of smoke with a shitty sound in the turbine. It was barely making any boost after running a 03 cobra. Came back to a spot and you can hear the rattling in the turbo. Knew it was it for my t3t4. Should I rebuild it or get NEW one? Gotta call Charlie @ CMR or use to be and figure something out soon. Basically can't drive it at all and looking to add new toys to the motor. A football and cams most likely. Any suggestions with cams? My setup has been great but shit happens! Different turbo maybe ?

Dude, read the f*ing story...

Anyways, Drew, if you're the type who wants to get it done right the 1st time, go for a GT series turbo. If price is a factor, BB T3T4s are ~$550. They get the job done.

So did you hang w/ the Cobra?

Jesse

PS - I got you're PM about Fix / Install Day but I'm way busy and other people already have slots. I'll let you know.

drew,

get a SC61 form precision. you'll do 400 on pump gas with the cams and manifold and that turbo.

they run around $800 new iirc...

I ran one with the same setup and I would pull until 2 cars with only making around 330rwhp on my car. . I know he's making over 400rwhp with more torque. I knew something was wrong when we dead even. Once they do everything, they get me by a car which is still good in my book!
I most likely stick wiht the same turbo because I'm shooting around 400rwhp or more adding a few more mods. Who knows, I might build it and go all the way, maybe

T3T4 won't offer the efficiency or response of the GT series but you don't road race or auto-x right? You could compensate w/ a lightweight flywheel or crank pulley.

I just mess around on the street on saturday nights and once I get in the grove go to the track.....Thinking of getting pretty good flywheel. Don't know if it's worth it.

Flywheel is totally worth the cost. Not only does it decrease your drivetrain mass (increasing efficiency, MPG), it gets you into your powerband quicker. Revs will fall quicker too but nothing a short shifter can't take care of.

I need to get my turbo off by tomorrow so I can have charlie from CMR turbo look at it. I believe a SC61 would be very efficent with faster spool, as long they make one with a 60-1 and stage 5 wheel. Can't remember but I think it's a .86 AR. I dunno until I take it off. but similar to mind for top end. Thats what i'm really about. Just having fun .
