More like conjuction junction.

All right, all right.
There really aren't any swaps for maximas. There's nothing bigger that will fit, and nothing smaller (with a turbo) that will haul around that big car. I'd get a good set of headers, an intake, and an exhaust. After that, you're spending big $$. Tampamax seems to be the local authority on fast maximas.

These cars are plenty easy to mod and respond quite well to very little. The 95 GXE is going to be the lightest car of all the maxima's and i suggest you start there for the greatest bang for your buck if you are going more for performance. You can expect the car to weigh in around 3K lbs. and you can shave a few pounds without compromising ride quality or comfort. The aftermarket market is coming on strong for these cars. If i were in your shoes i would look for a 95GXE with just over 100K miles on the clock that was owned by a relatively older couple cause you can steal them for 2-4 thousand bucks. With a little time, effort, and good driving skills you can be in the 12's or mid 13's if you can't drive for 500-1,500 bucks in performance parts.

I garauntee you that engine is stronger than the RB and SR series engines. Hell, its the best engine by Nissan period and quite possibly the best mass market production engine of all time.

i wouldnt go as far as that. They are still FWD. hevey and the stock block is only good for 300-400 ish. if I rember right theres a guy on maxima.org that sells turbo kits for the Maxima/I30 that I would of gotten if I didnt have SR. lets just say I prefer RWD, and the ability to handle.

FWD yes, heavy no. They range from 2700(95 with some weight reduction)-3400lbs(fully loaded 04). You are sorely mistaken on what the stock block can handle. Now if you said the stock engine is good for 300-400 reliable hp then i would agree. It can be pushed to 600+ on the stock "engine" but you are driving on borrowed time. Remember these engines are not forged anything so that's pretty good. Remember, the block itself is very stout, its the internals that will give long before the block will. Even the sr and rb will need modifications to get over 400-500 reliable hp. Now that the rules for GT racing(i think that's what their series is called) in Japan the teams are going with the VQ and dumping the RB. Top Secret comes to mind right away.
I won't go into a big arguement over why i believe in the VQ over any other engine cause i think it may be pointless. But know this, dollar for dollar the VQ will outpace any Nissan engine made up to this point. And yes i would prefer a rwd, if i had the time or the help that would be a reality for the max. But fwd aint that bad. With any kind of drive its still pricless to see the look on peoples faces when you beat a vehicle you should never have been able to(whether it be a 240, a 200, a sentra, or a max.

BTW...the VQ is waaay lighter than the SR which should help with some weight reduction and handling in a 240.

don't get me wrong, I still have love for the maxima. But at the time the I30 just didnt suit my needs. My dad has the 02 Max with the 6 speed and helical limited slip and loves to beat up on the local ricers, mullet heads. They always get a shock...even a few m3's ahahahah

VQ is lighter than SR? That's news to me!

2700 lbs for a modded 95? My S13 coupe isn't that light!

I'm not calling BS, I just had no idea.

Tampamax. what would u reccomend on the 2nd gen maxima...custom turbo set up, VQ engine swap, or nitrous? I have an 89 with a vg30e in it just sitting in my garage, and im not sure what i want to do with it yet.
