I Smell Gas, Should I Be Concerned????
This is a double post, one's in General Chat also.
1994 SE-R, HotShot aftermarket header, one bolt missing, exhaust leak, smell of unburnt gas.
As you just read, I have/had an exhaust leak due to a missing bolt on my header. I'm literally working on it right now, and I put a new bolt in there and sealed it up. I started the car, revved it up a couple times, it kinda backfired a little at the same spot but I'm not worried about that. I'm more concerned about the fact that I smell unburnt gasoline, advice please...
P.S- I'm getting a copper gasket from HotShot in a couple days and replacing all the nuts and bolts to go with it, if that helps.

check for leaks on your fuel lines..

Done and done. I smell gas only when I whomp on it.
We'll see if it persists after I get the gasket and stuffs.

My car has an upgraded ECU and I use 93 octane all day, so I'm thinking I'm just running richer and only notice it now with the leak. Hehe, my own .02
btw- Is it common to smell unburnt gas on cars that have open headers?

Get a F-king Fire Extinguisher..( auto model at wal mart..$9.00...cheap insurance against a engine fire!!)
I had the same problem with my last car and luckily the fire occured near a lake and i just happened to find a empty milk carton to scoop water up with and barely saved my RX-7!!!
