Default S14 motor into an S13

I will be buying an engine from a 98 S14 and putting it into my 93 S13, the harness and computer is all included in the purchase but i'm sure i will run into problems with the wiring harness and i assume i will need the gauges from another S14, can anyone give me any advice on what problems i will run into and whether i will need to get my harness modified. Any help is appreciated

youa re better off changing the intake / exh. manifods off your S13 KA onto the S14 KA and using all the S13 wirign and ECU. the wiring is TOTALLY different from S13 to S14. expect to pay someone $350 to do the wiring for you. you wont be able to amke it work yourself without help form someone knowledgeable. do it right use the S13 parts...

I just did it about 3 weeks ago. Enthalpy is right, S13 manifolds all the way. On the intake side, I only swapped the plenums, though. Also, you'll want to use both of the S13 water temp sensors (on the coolant elbow) and the S13 distributor. That will git-r-dun with zero wiring. Use the S13 accesories, too (don't know if you even have the S14 ones).

you wont be able to use the s13 ac condesnor unless you take off the whole cast iron brackt cause the mounting points from the bracket to the compressor are different.

also the throttle body plugs are way different. i just got by that by putting the s13 one on as with the exhaust manifold and O2 sensor. didnt have to do any wiring besides to clean things up.

correct me if im wrong but dont you have to use the s13 alternator as well. i forget if i swapped them out.

Epstein, with a little bit of help from Tony and me, did a S14 motor transplant into an S13 dual cam car with minor changes here and there. Everything works wonderfully on his car, What he says is law when it comes to this swap

You will also ned to take off the P/S pump bracket and A/C compressor bracket off the s13 to use on the new s14 motor. Use s13 harness, s13 manifolds, s13 distributer. Its easy can be done in one day. I did it to mine and it runs great.

The S14 alternator is slightly different. The binding post (power terminal) is on the side instead of the back. The post is also larger, so you'll have to cut your S13 ring terminal and make it in to a C terminal. (cut the loop, open it slightly with pliers.)

$1.19 is correct. The S14 iron bracket is for the R134a compressor, which differs from the R12 guy in the S13. Basically, whichever compressor you use, use the corresponding bracket.

I'm not sure about the PS. I used the S13 PS pump on the S14 motor/brackets with no problem. Here's a tip, don't undo the lines for the PS. Just pull the pump off of the motor and rotate it out of the way.
