Default sr20 s13 tach won't work?

swapped an sr20 that was in a 97 240sx into a 1990 s240. the car runs great with no problems besides the tach , speedo, and water temp gauges not working. the speedo ain't hooked up but the water temp gauge and the tach wires are ran correctly. I've changed the cluster twice, checked wiring but to no avail. I've even checked the wire coming out of the ecu(yellow with red stripe) for a tach signal, none there. Changed the ecu still nothing. has anybody had this problem before? PLEASE HELP!!!

you see like you know your stuffs however I dont know how you skipped over the part how you cant use a 89,90 tach in a SR, since your original engine was a once cam, and now you have a twice cam you must swich over to a twice cam tach from a later 240sx 91 or above or an SR one.

The tach signal comes from the ECU through the dash conenctor. Trace the yellow/red near the ECU and make sure it's getting through. Same with speedo (yellow/green), and water temp (blue/black).
