Default XAT racing (correction)

this is just a little info for those who posted on the now closed thread about the forum posts on other forums about a motor purchased from xat. the motor that was purchased from xat was thoroughly inspected and prepped before installation, pan was removed, hammered down and oil pickup cleaned. the oil pump was primed and had adequate pressure prior to starting. however, something else went wrong. the motor wasn't over revved, in fact it was barely driven. but thats neither here nor there, the reason i'm posting is because even though it's not the fault of xat, or due to lack of knowledge ( i did nothing but study up on the sr20 for six months prior to my first swap-this one is number 3) the fact is the motor was bad. i can understand the position of xat and why they cannot offer a warranty. and they also understand my frustration as a customer who has just lost a lot of money. however xat has offered to render any help possible in the repair of the car and that does say a lot about them as a shop. this purchase was not the first with xat, i've done a lot of good business with them and hope to do more. as far as the forum posts go i personally only posted one but i know a few other people spread it around, so if you come across any feel free to let me know so we can get them deleted. much thanks to xat for all of their help through the whole project, and for helping to fix this situation the best they could.

ok...let's break it down.. you bought a used motor from someone who bought a used motor. they have no history or invovlement with that motor. they do not know who the original owner is or who has driven it since. they are a broker. they bought a used motor and you in turn bought a used motor from them. how can they be responsible? there is no guarantee. as estavan has posted, if you want a good motor, then simply test before purchase. be picky. as they motors become rarer, they are going to be of less quality as time goes by.

i feel as a consumer, .these days, you are bettter off buying a clip and having the shop install it. then you get at least some guarantee.

i personally would not warranty something i bought sight unseen and then sold to someone else.. it defies good business judgement.

to break it down further. engine sellers are pimps selling whores... who in their right mind is going to warranty a whore?

I'd warranty a whore. Their job is simple, and requires little to no training. Hard to have an unsatisfied customer.
