I have never read about anyone installing a FPR when switching from the stock fuel pump to an aftermarket one. Is it necessary? I installed one last night in my car and i made sure it cranked and ran fine. Then this morning after about 10 minutes into my drive on the way to work the POS started sputtering and it died. It will not start back up. Am I supplying way too much fuel to the engine. If I put a FPR in the fuel line how do you regulate the fuel pressure or is it automatic? I could use quick suggestions as my car is stranded in the McDonalds parking lot. Thanks!

 

yes, i can still hear the pump whine when I turn the ignition on. I actually had a similar instance of my car running like crap (stuttering and shaking violently) a few days BEFORE I did the fuel pump, but the problems went away and I guess now they are back. I'm thinking I have water in the gas? Or my fuel filter is clogged? I'm gonna get another fuel filter tonight to try it and see. Any other suggestions? Thanks John.

 

Maybe you crossed the two wires and its working backwards...per Walbros instructions

 

nah. it never would have ran in the first place when i first tested it because the fuel lines were empty before i swapped pumps. and surely not for 10 minutes if the polarity of the motor was reversed.

 

maybe ignition. check coil to dist and dist to spark plug. if thats a no go then check and see if you fouled your plugs.

 

It was bad gas!! Fuck the Fyling-J. I drained the gas and put new gas in it and it fired right up. I would like to sue the bastards but I have no receipt proving that I bought gas there last.
