Default T28 rebuild? Help

I have a new problem. Someone told me you cannot rebuild a T-28 from an s14 because it’s a ball bearing turbo. Is this true? This would really suck if this person is correct.

ball bearing turbos are rebuildable...however the rebuild process can only be done at very few places adn is as much as a new turbo. so....you are screwed if you bought one that need rebuilding. however....not all s14 turbos are ball bearing so you *might* be in luck.

I bought is from a kid for $50. There are 2 fins on the compressor wheel that are bent. Where can I get it rebuilt at? How can you tell if its a ball bearing?

Didn't this get over and done with already?
If you only need a blade on a wheel, then buy a blown s14 turbo and switch wheels. If you are leaking oil and smoking bad.. then you need to replace the seals, and I don't know anything about that.

jeff, are you sure it is best to just swap wheels? i know that swapping and/or clocking housings has no effect on the turbo cartridge and wheels, but IIRC, i thought that swapping a wheel would require it to be re-balanced. remember, there is very minimal clearances between the blades and the inner part of the housings, and if it were to come in contact, that wouldnt be good news.
