Default SR20VE, always a good thread...

For those that have some knowledge of the Neo VVl, I have just a couple questions:

1. Would a valve cover from a stock SR fit the VE?

2. Is it possible to do some custom work to it to make it rear wheel capable? RWDSE-R, go figure.

3. Are they as tough as their brothers, the DE and DE-T, as far as Nitrous appications?

What I ultimately want is a rwd classic with the VE and prolly a 100+ shot, all sleeper. I would be happy with a setup like that.

Please, discuss.

go to www.sr20forum.com they actually have a complete section devoted to the sr20ve and sr16ve. You will learn alot more there. This board doesn't seem to be fwd friendly if you havent noticed. You aren't cool if your not in a s13/s14. good luck on the rwd b13..

dont even bother asking about the rwd thing though they will bitch and moan about it on sr20forum. noone has made a b13 rwd before so they all say it cant be done, im in the middle of going awd nx so ill help as much as i can.

as far as i know, the calve cover will fit

the rwd thing youll have to custom mount brackets for the motor to be facing the right way. or if it would work get a srwd det block and put the componants in that block but i belive the 2 blocks are different.

It will be a project and a half, I already know how much it would cost to fab up a rear end, about $4000. This is something that i've always wanted, and not to mention original. Now that I have a really good job, it will happen. Thanks for the info guys.

Thats awesome how the valve cover will fit, sleeper!!!!

No the valve cover wont really work. The VE is like the 2000+ Roller rocker motors here in the united states, and if you would look at those, they are taller and are missing some things than the older SR20DE's.

You could use a valve cover from a 2000+ SR20, that would work.

Making it RWD? why, why would you bother with that. Stupid question, keep the SE-R FWD, or go buy a S Chassis car.

Is it just as strong? yes its very strong. The compression is very high so it doesnt do well with turbo unless you plan on building one to have lower compression. The VE responds very well to nitrous though. My friend in miami is building a SR20VET, but its not as easy as it sounds.

The reason I want RWD is to be different, unique, original.
And to be able to drift and do donuts in parking lots

those three words always equal a ton of $$$$

just remember you will be putting all this money in to a car worth $3k at the very most. If you have money to burn thats great. but just sit down and think about it logically.

Thanks for the reality check Boostin, but I feel very strongly about keeping this car for a really long time. I'll prolly have it until it's considered a real "classic", 25 years old or more.

I'm prepared to spend around $20K on everything, including the interior, $2000 suspension, engine work, sounds, rw conversion, and paint. Nothing will stray me from doing this, unless I decide to put a nice down payment on a house or something.
