Default SR13 vs SR14

Was looking around on the net at engines for a friend of mine. I noticed the SR20DET s13s run around $1,100 but the S14s run around $2,300.

Are there any advantages to the s14 other than the 15 extra horsepower and possibly less miles on the swap motor?

Also how much boost will these engines handle in stock form?

S14 has the T28 ball bearing turbo. You can boost alittle higher and you get more midrange torque. Of course the engine will have less miles as well.

I would say get the S13, because you can easily surpass the horsepower of an S14 motor with minor modifications and it will cost you less in the long run. Just make sure you get a good motor.

S13 red/black top will hold 14.7psi max on a T25
S14 black top will hold max 18psi (i think) on a T28

I think I've wrapped it up here.

if you are looking at getting an $1100 S13 SR you are looking for trouble!!! good complete motorsets / clips cost over twice that. you get what you pay for. there are several people on this board that have tried the piece it together method and when they are all dont they pretty much all say that it was more expensive adn more time consuming than just doing it correctly the first time.
