Default NISMO Mount Update

Earlier, I stated that Performance Nissan (PF) had the Engine/Tranny Mount set for $172 vs Courtesy Nissan (Texas) $202.

Problem with PF stock?
Photos Here:

The RIGHT mount doesn't have the NISMO part number but the OEM part #. Their entire new shipment is like that.

Refresh my memory - are there NISMO mounts for SRs and Nissan Motorsport mounts for KAs or are they one and the same? If so, then the mounts are reversed to work on the KA?

Well, my comment on their excellent customer service stands, we'll see what happens

Hey! Small world! I ordered my Nismo mounts today from them and they said they held my order because someone had a problem with them. It must have been you.

So you got an OEM mount in a Nismo box? Sounds like a screw up at the factory. They've been very courtious and informative to me so far, so I wouldn't worry about getting ripped off or anything.

i dont think i cought that the first time i read it, but it is a different part number. thats why i always check the part numbers on the invoice and on the part, not just the number on the box. i used to work shipping at autoway and there wasnt any room for fuck ups cause some of them could be an $8000 fuck up.

Jason checked several other new boxes and they were the same deal. It is a small world, thank goodness for the internet Whenever this gets resolved, perhaps you can come to the shop and we'll knock them out at the same time? PM me if interested. I also got a NISMO thermostat to install too.

Reply from Jason at Performance Nissan:

"just got off the phone with Nissan Motor Sports about the mounts. Some times when they make them they use the OEM mount and squeeze a harder bushing into them. So the mount will have the same number stamped into it but the insert is different."

I'm worried about that: the part # is on the urethane/poly, not the mount. So the mounts are 2 pieces? I'll keep you updated.

I'm not exactly sure what's being said about the confusion with the mounts and part numbers here, but the LEFT mount (car's left side, exhaust side) on the SR is different from the KA mount. Some Nissan left mounts are labeled LH and some are just L. You can see the heatshield that goes on the left mount also has 2 siamesed holes in it for the mount bolt and 2 locator pin holes. That's so it can fit either an LH mount or an L mount.

IIRC, the KA uses L which has it's bolt about 3/8" further rearward than the LH mount. 3/8" doesn't sound like much but it definitely makes a difference in ease of engine installation. This is also the reason why people who swap SR's always have left side mounts go bad (prolly also coupled with the fact that the left side is the torque tension side).

Hope that helps, I'll try to find the thread I posted on FA with pictures of the 2 mounts side by side.

The left mount I have is labeled "LN." Regardless, here's the scoop from Nissan Motorsports per phone call:

1. The number on the RIGHT mount is a JDM part#
2. The NISMO part# does not show on the mount b/c they use the same machine to cast both OEM and NISMO mounts but with different material.
3. By using the same machine/cast, the OEM part# is embossed on both parts.
