Lightbulb Really good idea, opinions/tech please...

Here's an idea I have about the Neo VVL sr20ve. Not sure if everyone is familiar with it. It's just like Honda, Nissan's version of Vtec. It's able to put out 200hp with very little modding.

My idea is to buy the bitch, stroke it out to a 2.2, and turbo it. I know I'll have to get a manifold custom fabbed, and I don't want to get too technical cause I really don't know what I'm talking about. That's why I wanted to get some info/opinions on this matter.

Any and all info is welcome, feel free to call me a moron if there's good reason...

Yea, I knew that, but way too hard to find and expensive I'm sure. I like the idea cause it's cheaper than getting a redtop and kinda original, ehh...

but whenever you turbo a car, you'll have a lot more issues than a car that comes factory turbo'd.
Its a large project and the TODA stroker kit costs $6,400
and you can get it in (8.5:1, or 8.4:1, then you have to pay to get a custom mani $300-$700 then a standalone/ecu tune, + the turbo, intercooler, piping, BOV, boost controller, etc... the list goes on...this project would be a $15,000 project. but if you want to...thats all you man.
Or you could get a nice 240sx -$3000
Red top swap- $3300
intercooler + piping-$500
and you'd still only be at $6800...which means you could spend ~$8200 in modifications, and have the fastest/badest car around...or have a mediocre SR20VE-(T).
thats just my opinion.

Well, if you forget the "stroke that bitch" part, it'd be pretty easy. Drop in VE, slap on avenir/GTiR manifold and GTiR turbo (or bigger), front mount, and tune ECU. It's the ECU tuning that'll be hard.

JWT can handle the tuning very easily. That would not be hard at all.

You would need to run a large turbo (like a T3/T4 size) with the large duration and overlap of the VE high RPM cams. You would get a lot of backpressure and reversion with a smaller T2 based turbo.

I can get you a VE motor and do all the fabwork if you need it done. My number is 813-546-3524.

Peace,

an .86 a/r exhaust side would cure that problem as long as its a good flowing turbine wheel (pulsar / ns111 etc)
