Fix it Day 3/20 at the Shop
What: I'm offering to bring in 2 vehicles into the Auto Shop on MacDill AFB:
3 stalls w/ wheels free lifts ($4 p/hr)
3 stalls w/ non-wheels free lifts ($4 p/hr)
7 lift-free stalls ($2 p/hr)
1 A/C refill stall
1 4 wheel Alignment stall (M-F, $45, 1:30 or 2:30 appt only)
Paint Booth
Machining Section (resurfacing, presses, grinders, welder)
Brand new wheel balancer ($5 p/wheel)
All stalls carry full compliment of air & hand tools.
2-3 ASE technicians are on-station to assist.
When: March 20, 0900-1800
Where: Meet at McDonalds on corner of Dale Mabry and Interbay Blvd at 0900
Who: 2 open slots at this time. I should have time to help out on your projects. My list:
1. Install NISMO engine/tranny mounts
2. Install NISMO thermostat
3. Increase front coilover dampening
4. Remove timing chain guide
***Granted, some jobs require professional tools, some don't. I will choose which cars come in at my discretion. Cars with tougher jobs have priority (engine/tranny/diff swaps, brake swaps, engine mods, etc).***
Why: So you learn how to DIY. That money for labor can be spent on more important things in life.
Let me know what you want to do, then I'll PM you my cell # so we can solidify plans.

I need to change my oil. Do they have a wheel balancer there? I'll let you know ASAP whether I need to use one. I also need to find out where I can get the stick on wheel weights cheaper than $43 NAPA charges. I'm definitely in for this Saturday.

I also need to install TC rod bushings I have sitting at home, the wheel balancer still a maybe. I'm going to order some wheel weights tomorrow to save money but don't think they will be here before the end of the week. I'll definitely need to use the presses there for the TC bushing install. Will that be O.K. + oil change?

Drew, we did Rinku's SPL TC rods in like 30min.
Mandingo, don't buy the weights. The $5 per wheel includes them. I've never removed the TC rod bushing but if all else fails, we'll torch it out
There's a thread on FA about this very subject: Replacing Bushings

TC bushings really sucked to replace.
I did torch one of them out, and the other took some "convincing" with a sledge hammer and 2 sockets. A 2 1/4" socket (yea.. 1.5" drive or something) and a 2 5/8" socket. I think those are the right sizes. Set down the big socket. Place the TC rod edge around the socket lip. Set the smaller socket onto the metal rim of the stock bushings. Swing and watch sockets go flying everywhere. If you're lucky, the bushing comes out.
But.. if you simply have access to a press, it's a 5 minute swap.

Jesse:
I read the thread on the TC bushings, if there is a press available they should be simple to install, I'll go to the autostore to buy Liquid Wrech and hope this works. Of course if torching the old ones out will work that will be better but I've never used a torch before so I hope there is someone there can use one
. I'll wait to have an alignment done since I can't make it to use the machine during the week. I also need to change change my exhaust manifold gasket on my aftermarket header. I didn't follow the factory tightening sequence and now I have a leak
. So I guess all I need is a "wheel free" lift.
